Lisbon

Portugal Capital City

Lisbon is Europe´s second oldest city after Athens. Legend tells it was founded by Ulysses. Back in the XVI century, Lisbon was well known for its successful trading. Today, Lisbon is a global city, due to its importance in finance, commerce, media, entertainment, arts, international trade, education and tourism.

A city of light, great food, history, night life, always mixing the old and modern in perfect harmony.

Porto

Second bigest city in Portugal, second to none in the world

Porto is the second biggest city in Portugal, also referred to as the “Capital of the North”. Its striking mixture of architectural influences from being an ancient city turns it into a splash of “La Belle Époque”.
The name itself is used for the well-known “Port wine” that happens to be the world´s oldest demarcated wine region in the world, the “Douro Valley”. You can easily visit this region and its Port wine cellars to savor its various textures, aromas and its smoothness. Porto is: all magic when it comes to landscapes, its “cuisine”, variety of wines and the local people.

Alentejo

Best kept portuguese secret

One of the best kept secrets in Europe. From the river “Tagus” you will travel through its golden plains as far as the eye can see, which then extends to the south, (the Algarve).
In contrast with the greens of the North, and, due to its rather high temperatures, the locals live in a pace which matches the speed of their sunsets. This region produces delicious cheese, excellent wines, and breath taking landscapes. In some regions of the Alentejo, you can delight yourself by “star watching”, a unique experience belonging “only” to this particular region.

Sintra

Unesco World Heritage

In the 19th century Sintra became the first centre of European Romantic architecture. Ferdinand II turned a ruined monastery into a castle where this new sensitivity was displayed in the use of Gothic, Egyptian, Moorish and Renaissance elements and in the creation of a park blending local and exotic species of trees. Other fine dwellings, built along the same lines in the surrounding serra , created a unique combination of parks and gardens which influenced the development of landscape architecture throughout Europe.

Cabo da Roca

"Where the land ends and the sea begins"

The western most extent of mainland in Portugal and Continental Europe.
This western coast is a mixture of sand beaches and rocky cliff promontories: around Cabo da Roca, cliffs are more than a 100 meters in height and cut into crystalline waters. Here you can experience an unbelievable view into the Atlantic Ocean. Fresh and salty air that purifies your body and soul.

Cascais

A village with history that goes back to the Roman times.

Since the middle ages, this village is home of fisherman and the reference point in maritime commerce. In the XVII century, kings and nobles chose Cascais as the village to spend the summer seasons, due to its beautiful beaches, such as “Guincho beach”, and the moderate climate all year round. Cascais, today, is the richest municipality in the country.

You can visit the largest casino of slot machines in Europe, “Casino Estoril”. Famous for its fresh fish and seafood restaurants makes it a “must” while visiting Lisbon. Also, back in 1969, Ian Fleming found enough inspiration to write and film one of his 007 movies called: “On Her Majesty´s Secret Service”.
